The discovery of Uranium
The element Uranium was named and discovered by a German chemist, Martin H. Klaproth, in 1789. He named it after the planet Uranus, which was only discovered eight years earlier. The main use of uranium was in pigments, ceramic glazes, and a yellow-green fluorescent glass and also as a source of radium for medical purposes.
